Homemade chocolate loaf cake recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup hot fudge sauce, plus extra for drizzling.
Procedure
Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and set aside.Combine Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set this mixture aside.
Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Ensure each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next.
Mix in Buttermilk and Fudge: Alternate adding the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the creamed mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Stir just until combined. Fold in the hot fudge sauce gently, ensuring not to overmix.
Add Extras: If using, fold in chocolate chips or nuts at this stage.
Bake the cake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Smooth the top with a spatula.
Baking Time: Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool and Serve: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes .
