Old-Fashioned Butter Cake

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs

INSTRUCTION :

Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans and set aside.
Prepare Batter:

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Add the softened butter, milk, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat with a hand mixer for 2 minutes, occasionally scraping down the sides of the bowl.
Add the eggs and continue to beat for an additional 2 minutes until well combined.
Bake:

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool:

Remove from the oven and let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes.
Turn the cakes out onto a cooling rack to cool completely.

Once cooled, pour melted butter, sugar and vanilla mixture over the top
