Gender Reveal Cakeπππ.
The left half of the cake is pink, and the right half is blue, adorned with white pearl-like decorations scattered across both halves. The top edge of the cake is decorated with matching pink and blue rosettes, and there's a large pink rose with green leaves at the base of the cake. This type of cake is often used to announce the gender of a baby.
Ingredients:
- Cake:
- 8 oz all-purpose flour
- 8 oz granulated sugar
- 4 oz unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs (approximately 7 oz)
- 4 oz whole milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Buttercream Frosting:
- 16 oz unsalted butter, softened
- 32 oz powdered sugar
- 2-4 oz heavy cream or milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pink food coloring
- Blue food coloring
Instructions:
1.Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
2.In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
3.Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
4.In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
5.Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool completely on a wire rack.
For the Buttercream Frosting:
1.In a large bowl, beat the butter until creamy.
2.Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, beating well after each addition.
3.Add the vanilla extract and 2-4 oz of heavy cream or milk. Beat on high speed for 3-4 minutes, until light and fluffy. Add more cream or milk if needed to reach the desired consistency.
4.Divide the frosting into three portions. Color one portion with pink food coloring, another portion with blue food coloring, and leave the remaining portion white.
To Decorate:
1.Frost the cooled cakes with a base layer of white buttercream.
2.Use a piping bag fitted with a round tip to create the pink and blue horizontal stripes on the sides of the cake.
3.Pipe the matching pink and blue rosettes around the top edge of the cake.
4.Decorate the cake with the large pink rose, green leaves, and white pearl-like decorations.
