Vanilla Sponge Cake Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan.In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
