For the Buttercream Frosting:
- Unsalted butter: 250 grams (softened)
- Powdered sugar: 500 grams
- Heavy cream: 30 grams
- Vanilla extract: 5 grams
- Yellow food coloring: a few drops (as needed)
- Green food coloring: a few drops (for the leaves)
Instructions:
1.Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
2.Mix dry ingredients: In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
3.Cream butter and sugar: In a separate bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
4.Add eggs: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
5.Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
6.Bake: Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
7.Prepare buttercream frosting: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, beating until smooth. Add the heavy cream and vanilla extract, and beat until fluffy. Add yellow food coloring to achieve the desired color for the frosting.
8.Assemble and decorate: Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of frosting on top. Place the second cake layer on top and frost the entire cake with yellow frosting. Use green food coloring to tint a small portion of frosting for the leaves. Decorate the cake with piped flowers and leaves as shown in the image.
