  • 2 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 3/4 cup of unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups of granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of whole milk
  • For the Buttercream Frosting:
  • 1 cup of unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups of powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 2-3 tablespoons of milk
  • For Decoration:
  • Assorted edible flowers
  • Colored sprinkles

Instructions:

Prepare the Cake Batter:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 8-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until the batter is smooth and combined.
Bake the Cake:
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Smooth the tops with a spatula.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Prepare the Buttercream Frosting:
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing well after each addition.
Stir in the vanilla extract and milk, beating until the frosting is smooth and fluffy.
Assemble the Cake:
Place one cake layer on a serving plate or cake stand. Spread an even layer of frosting over the top.
Place the second cake layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake. Use a piping bag with a star tip to add decorative swirls on the top of the cake.
Decorate the Cake:
Sprinkle the top with colored sprinkles for a festive touch.
Add edible flowers as an elegant garnish around the edges and on top of the cake.
Serve and Enjoy:
Slice and serve the cake as a delightful dessert for any occasion.

Decoration Tips:

Flower Placement: Use edible flowers to create a floral crown around the top edge of the cake for a charming presentation.
Textured Frosting: Use an offset spatula to create swirls or waves in the frosting for a rustic yet elegant finish.
Cake Stand Display: Elevate the cake on a white or neutral cake stand to highlight its layers and decorations.
