  • For the Buttercream Frosting:
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pink and white food coloring

Instructions:

1.Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

2.Prepare the Cake Batter:

-In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
-In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
-Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
-Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
-Divide the batter into two bowls. Add pink food coloring to one bowl and mix until the desired shade is achieved.

3.Bake the Cakes:

-Pour the batter into the prepared cake pans, one with the pink batter and one with the plain batter.
-Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
-Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

4.Prepare the Buttercream Frosting:

-In a large bowl, beat the butter until creamy.
-Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, beating well after each addition.
-Add the heavy cream and vanilla extract, and beat until light and fluffy.
-Divide the frosting into two bowls. Add pink food coloring to one bowl and mix until the desired shade is achieved.

5.Assemble the Cake:

-Place the plain cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of pink frosting on top.
-Place the pink cake layer on top of the frosting.
-Frost the entire cake with a thin layer of white frosting to create a crumb coat. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
-Frost the cake with the remaining pink and white frosting, creating swirls and decorative patterns as desired.
-Add the heart-shaped topper and sprinkle with golden decorations.
