Buttercream Cake Recipe🎂🧁🍰
Ingredients:
- For the Cake:
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 cup whole milk, room temperature
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- For the Buttercream Frosting:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- Blue food coloring
Instructions:
1.Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
2.Prepare the Cake Batter:
-In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
-In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
-Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
-Mix in the vanilla extract.
-Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
3.Bake the Cake:
-Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
-Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
-Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
4.Prepare the Buttercream Frosting:
-In a large bowl, beat the butter until creamy.
-Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, beating well after each addition.
-Add the heavy cream and vanilla extract, and beat until light and fluffy.
-Divide the frosting into two portions. Leave one portion white and color the other portion blue using food coloring.
5.Assemble and Decorate the Cake:
-Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of white buttercream on top.
-Place the second cake layer on top and frost the entire cake with a thin layer of white buttercream (crumb coat). Chill the cake for 30 minutes.
-Apply a final layer of white buttercream to the top of the cake.
-Use a piping bag fitted with a star tip to pipe blue swirls around the sides of the cake.
-Pipe white swirls around the top edge of the cake.
-Create a blue rose with the remaining blue buttercream and place it on top of the cake.
