Black Forest Cherry Cake๐Ÿ’๐Ÿซ

Ingredients:

- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cans (21 oz each) cherry pie filling
- 1/2 cup kirsch (cherry brandy)
- Chocolate shavings for garnish

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
2. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
4. Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin). Pour batter into prepared pans.
5. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then remove to wire racks to cool completely.
6. In a large bowl, beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
7. Using a serrated knife, cut each cake layer in half horizontally to create 4 layers.
8. Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Brush with 2 tablespoons kirsch. Spread with 3/4 cup cherry pie filling and top with 1 cup whipped cream.
9. Repeat layers with remaining cake, kirsch, cherry pie filling, and whipped cream.
10. Frost the top and sides of the cake with remaining whipped cream. Garnish with chocolate shavings and additional cherries if desired.
11. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving. Enjoy this luscious treat!
