Hershey's Chocolate Cake
Classic Hershey's Chocolate Cake - made with Hershey's cocoa powder and topped with creamy chocolate frosting, it's a timeless treat that's perfect for any occasion! 🍫🎂
Ingredients:
For the Cake:
- 2 cups granulated sugar- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
For the Chocolate Frosting:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened- 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/3 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
For the Cake:
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans and set aside.2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
4. Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth. The batter will be thin.
5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
7. Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
For the Chocolate Frosting:
1. In a medium mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.2. Add the cocoa powder and powdered sugar to the butter, alternating with the milk, and beat until smooth and creamy.
3. Stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.
To Assemble:
1. Once the cakes are cooled, place one cake layer on a serving plate.2. Spread a generous layer of chocolate frosting over the top of the cake layer.
3. Place the second cake layer on top and spread the remaining frosting over the entire cake.
4. Serve slices of the Hershey's Chocolate Cake at room temperature.
