Chocolate Poke Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients required on the box)
  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup chocolate syrup
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup whipped cream or whipped topping
  • Chocolate shavings or sprinkles for garnish

Directions:

Preheat your oven to the temperature specified on the cake mix box. Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to package instructions and pour into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
Bake the cake as directed on the box. Once baked, remove from oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
Using the end of a wooden spoon, poke holes all over the top of the cake.
In a small saucepan, mix sweetened condensed milk and chocolate syrup. Heat over medium heat until fully combined and warm.
Pour the warm chocolate mixture over the cake, ensuring it fills the holes.
In another saucepan, heat heavy cream until it just begins to boil. Remove from heat and stir in the chocolate chips until smooth and glossy.
Pour the chocolate ganache over the cake and spread evenly.
Let the cake cool completely, then top with whipped cream and garnish with chocolate shavings or sprinkles.

Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
